Effective leaders
 exemplify self-awareness and the ability to understand behaviors and appropriately assess situations. We welcome you to join us for an immersive, intensive experience that will give you an action and follow-up plan to lead with insight and success.

This year, AAMA joins with SCSI to host an inaugural leadership development workshop designed to equip experienced managers with tools to effectively lead through the increasingly challenging business environment.

Through pre-workshop interviews reading assignments and assessments, followed by a three-day interactive workshop, leaders will gain new insights into behaviors perceptions and situations and learn how to strategically guide relational decision-making and lead by example.

This workshop targets leaders and managers who want to gain a better understanding of themselves and others, learn how to diagnose and influence situations and determine how to best flex their personal leadership style. As learning objectives are tied directly to assessments gathered from peers and direct reports, applicants are required to have at least six months of experience with their current team.

METHODOLOGY

Phase I - Pre-workshop Preparation
Upon registration, pre-workshop activities will include a questionnaire, facilitated interviews, reading assignments, assessments and feedback, including:

  • Completion of a required personal questionnaire to determine appropriate fit for the workshop.
  • Initial interview by facilitator for additional information to ensure environment is conducive to your learning experience.
  • Initial contact by facilitator with your direct supervisor to ensure organizational support and compliance.
  • Completion of required assessments in a timely manner by both you, your direct supervisor, peers and direct reports.
  • Achievement of assigned reading exercises.

Phase II - Three-day Workshop
Three days, beginning on Wednesday and ending on Friday. Wednesday and Thursday will run from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Day One & Day Two
Following introductions and an overview of objectives, day one and two activities will focus on:

  • Model of effective leadership.
  • A 360 degree assessment of psychometric profile, followed by results.
  • Reflection on data and results.
  • Targeted, interactive learning activity.
  • Conclusions captured in a point-in-time snapshot of self awareness and understanding.

Note: Models and assessments will center on communication, change, conflict, influence, feedback and teamwork. Final schedule of Day One and Day Two exercises will be based on class experience level.

Day Three
Culminating in graduation, day three will also tackle:

  • Action planning.
  • Peer reviews.
  • Debrief practice and follow-up plan finalization.

Phase III - Post-workshop Follow-up, Coaching and Organizational Support
Real behavioral changes take place back at the workplace, not in the classroom.

  • Debrief to your direct supervisor, peers and direct reports to encourage change implementation and increase effectiveness and to request support and continued feedback.
  • Follow-up coaching with facilitator.
  • Six months post-workshop, you and your direct supervisor will report organizational impact as a result of change implementation.

  • How you see yourself, how others perceive you, how different groups (direct supervisor, peers, direct reports) see your behavior similarly or differently and how your rated behavior compares to others.
  • Effective leadership models.
  • Best practices from not only participating in the workshop, but learning from your classmates.
  • How practice in a supportive, classroom environment is the best strategy for change.
  • How better understanding others makes you more effective at flexing your personal leadership style to adapt to both others and specific situations.
What will you NOT learn?
  • How to make others embrace your own personal style.
  • How to make others change the way they interpret your behavior.
  • How to change behavior without taking initiative.

Registrant is responsible for all additional expenses, including hotel room, transportation and meals.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations are allowed. Requests for refunds will be reviewed and processed, on a case-by-case basis, as follows:
If cancelled post initiation of online assessments, a refund, less cost of online assessments.
If cancelled within 40 days of the workshop, a refund of 50% of the tuition.
If cancelled within 10 days of the workshop, no refund.
